Kingman man arrested for lighting mobile home on fire

KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a Kingman man set his mobile home on fire because he was feeling claustrophobic.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested 34-year-old Jesus Manuel Rivera on Wednesday on several felony charges, including arson of an occupied structure and aggravated assault per domestic violence.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter says deputies responded to the scene of the blaze shortly before 7:30 a.m.

They say Rivera and his parents, the only known occupants, were not injured and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.

Carter says Rivera told deputies he burned the house down because he was used to living in a double wide mobile home. He also told deputies he used lighter fluid to catch his mattress on fire.

Rivera is currently being held in Mohave County Jail.
