Motorcyclist dies after being thrown from bike in Brooklyn

A 34-year-old motorcyclist died, but his 20-year-old passenger survived with minor injuries, after both were thrown from the bike in a collision in Brooklyn Wednesday night, police said.

Ashmeade Rohan was driving a Suzuki motorcycle north on Rockaway Parkway in Canarsie with a woman on the back when he collided with a Volvo that was turning left from the opposite lane onto Avenue J around 9:30 p.m., police said.

Rohan and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, police said.

Emergency responders rushed Rohan to Brookdale University Hospital, where he died, police said. The woman riding on the back of the bike was also taken to Brookdale and treated for minor injuries, cops said. The 66-year-old Volvo driver was unhurt.

The NYPD’s collision investigation squad was probing the crash scene early Thursday.
