Man dies in hit-and-run near downtown

Police are searching for a motorist who fled after fatally striking a man near downtown Houston.

The driver of a Toyota Camry hit a pedestrian about 2:30 p.m. Thursday along Clinton near Jensen.

The victim was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said

The driver crashed the car and ran off toward a nearby rail yard. Houston Police Department officers said he remains at large.

The driver could be charged with failure to stop and render assistance-hit and run, plus additional charges if he was impaired at the time, police said.
